My Predictions for the Elections in Summer 2026

It's fashionable to predict what will happen. It also was lucrative at one point. Now, if a party funds you, it may still be.

But I am adding a twist to the prediction game. I am predicting how things may turn out for people like you and me- the Aam Admi, in whichever state the elections are happening. Names ending in 'ni' not included.

1. The more things change, the more they remain the same.

2. Petrol prices will rise. So will a few other essentials, partly to offset doles announced.

3. Liquor prices may rise, for the same reason as above.

4. The first six months will look as if there are bright days ahead.. not using acchhe din, as it's copyrighted.

5. From month 7 to the next election, it will seem like a long wait for change. Refer to 1 above.

Why Predictions Are Iffy

Predictions, barring a few, are iffy. Newspapers wrote reams, and business news channels expended hours with "experts" about everything from stock prices, movements of indices, and oil prices per barrel, in the months leading up to the Corona crisis.

And what do you have now?

Sensex at 29,000 instead of 41,000

Oil prices at 30 dollars a barrel instead of 60 and climbing

Consumer sentiment at zilch

Job cuts in most sectors, unprecedented in aviation, tourism and allied sectors like hotels, restaurants (except where they have home-delivery options)

The most-in-demand are doctors who have sane advice, and politicians who have their hearts in the right place- a few may still be around.

Those who keep the wheels running in these tough times, well, hats off to all of them.

Making Predictions

My top ten predictions

1. Kim will continue to sport a funny haircut.

2. Kings and Queens will continue to thrive. Long live monarchy!

3. Kejriwal will continue to wear mufflers, but whether e will get rid of his cough, is too tough to call.

4.  Gun laws will remain what they are in the U.S., regardless of shootings in the country, and over-zealous actions by stupid countries like New Zealand.

5. Vada pav will continue as the State Dish of Maharashtra, along with Misal-pav.

6. Meetings will continue to waste hours, while generating Minutes, arround the world, particularly the corporate world.

7. Baldness will not have a cure, ever. Nor the common cold.

8. Men will be men (thanks, Imperial Blue, for pointing it out).

9. Selfies will become the leading cause of death- people jealous of others' abilities to take good selfies will kill themselves.

10. Student of the Year will continue till its 10th sequel, beating the Superman and Spiderman franchises.

Running Out of Things

I don't mean groceries at home. It's about the world at large. We are, according to some predictions, going to

1. Run out of drinking water in 15 years,
2. Oil in 40 years,
3. Glaciers in 25 years,
4. Chocolate in 10 years,
5. Fish in 75 years,

and 6. Air in a 100 years-at least, oxygen in the air.

I am just wondering when we will run out of these crazy predictors?

Past Life Predictions

People predict the future, but that is so not cool. I am attempting to predict people''s past- no, not that kind of past. But what people were in their past life- you didn't think this was the only life you had, did you? My predictions (or post-dictions, maybe)-

1. O.P. Nayyar was a tangewala in his past life. That's how he was able to generate those awesome tunes in this one..

2. Himesh Reshammiya was the fairy tale character with a long nose..Pinocchio? He poked his nose in everything, and was thus blessed with a nosey voice in his next.

3. Arijit Singh was a sad singer (Mukesh?) in his past life, and continues singing in a melancholy tone in this one..

4. RaGa was a schoolboy who skipped lot of classes, and his punishment in this life is to attend boring Parliament sessions- but he copes by sleeping through them!

5. Modi was Japanese. He continues to be a workaholic even today.

6. Donald Trump was a witch who cursed a lot of people. Now he is cursed to be the butt of all jokes, or worse..be the first certified joker to rule over a big country.

7. Rajnikant did not HAVE a last birth. He gave birth to reincarnation.

Saw an entirely different kind of play- a musical, called a sangeet-natak. Instead of dialogues, the characters converse through songs. Spe...
