Kodaikanal and Coimbatore visit happened. Met Dhanapal, and took off for a golf trip. A unique AirBnB in Kodai was beautifully located, and the winter views in the hills were amazing.. a sample.

Linkedin Posts and Numbers
A simple vintage pic of IIM Bangalore got 67,000 impressions in a day on Linkedin (now, 116,000 at last count- update). Lots of current students were amazed by what they saw- a totally different, young campus in the making. Our generation must have felt nostalgia.
Making me nostalgic, was this pic, the view from my room - G 10. Where I spent 2 beautiful years.
Another post that recently got a lot of views was a pic of a pile of books that I have authored/edited. That was gratifying.
Project Charcoal
It's not what you think. It's the name of a rooftop restaurant in Indore, which we accidentally discovered. Great views of some greenery around, a great ambience and good food. Includes a bakery on the ground floor too. Had a good outing- recommended! He's got some Mario Miranda cartoons framed too.

Jam Gate Outing
Near Indore, this viewing spot is quite a sight during the season-monsoon. Great views of the surrounding valley and lakes. You can feast on bhutta (corn), bhajiya, and so on while enjoying the atmosphere.
Why I Like People
Could be a lot of reasons. But most of all, these-
They are real. Not fake (beyond the minimal amount needed to survive, I mean).
They can either talk or listen. Both are desirable traits, at different times, with the same people sometimes.
They want to keep in touch, and do.
They are not shy about sharing good or bad news-related to the first quality.
They have extra-curricular interests of some kind.
They are opinionated, in a good way. I am not really into politics or celebrities, but anything else interests me, listening to what people may have to say.. about education, health, poverty, learning techniques or experiments, technology in language I can understand, and entrepreneurial ventures that they have tried.
A world-view of some kind, about the world we live in, is always welcome.
This Blog
This blog of mine has had 772255 views till date, across some 2550 blog posts. Even I am impressed, in this day and age, that there are some regular readers, who have subscribed to the feed, and I assume, read some of the posts. The stats reported say many views are from USA, but that might be because of location of the servers, as somebody pointed out earlier.
Also surprising because I am mostly a writer of text, though I understand that visual content is consumed more widely and easily. I have only stuck to photographs of people or things that I have clicked, or someone who was with me has clicked, when I use these. Very rarely, shots of celebs or book covers. This year, I posted 175 times, till date. Not bad, approximately averaging one post every two days.
Anyway, I am grateful for the fact that you are one of those who have read the blog, or some of it, from time to time. Some bloggers have a huge fan following, and I am amazed. I would probably only want a few comments now and then. Not much else to ask for.

Blog Crosses 450000 Views
What keeps you going may be different, but I think blogs/books/conversations keep me going. This blog has been going on for a few years now, and if the readership figures are correct, it seems to get an average of 100 hits a day.
I have also come across a few great blogs along the way, and I want to name a few of them.
Parul Kashyap Thakur's is one of them (she's a former student of IMT Nagpur). Another is a of a cartoonist, Satish Acharya, and one more is that of Vinod Ekbote, who goes book-shopping at Abids in Hyderabad every Sunday. Sowmyashree Gonibeedu also writes poetry on hers.
Harimohan is the one who introduced me to blogging, and he has a very good one. I think every one has a blog inside him/her, but only some choose to write it down. Here's to more people doing it!

Hope it's true, but aware it may not be. Just a bot gone mad, and measuring it wrong, maybe. The details of countries from where the viewers came are even more astounding-

As the Dust Settles
I am writing this as an impartial observer, without any political leaning of any kind. As the dust settles on the "demonetisation" and some realities seem to sink in, it may be a good time to look at the pluses and minuses so far- this may change due to subsequent actions of various stakeholders.
The shock value was delivered impeccably- an achievement in itself.
The initial reactions indicated that broadly, people supported the decision, assuming all would be back to normal in a few weeks.
It is not clear why the government chose to change the size of the notes, requiring recalibration of all ATMs. This delayed the functioning of ATMs at full capacity.
The cash supply has not yet returned to normal, at least not in the ATMs. This is from personal experience in at least three cities that I travelled to in the past week.
Possibility of corruption in RBI, banks and so on seems to have been overlooked. This has siphoned off a lot of money that could have reached the common man, giving the government a bad name.
Now, a question. Could there have been a better way to catch the guys with black money (not just in cash, but real estate and so on)? Were they explored?
People have certainly learnt how to stand in a queue, as a by-product, and maybe some nationalism has come in where it was not explicit.
All told, it was a great disruption in many lives. I hope it will not affect the economy too badly, particularly the daily wage workers.

There is a call to shut down a few things, of late. I am joining the bandwagon (what's a bandwagon, by the way?)
Shut down offices, because they make you work, and I don't like to work.
Shut down Coffee Day, because it's serving more froth than coffee. Similarly, shut down McD's in the U.S., because they give you ice in the garb of Coke in those deceptively large "regular" glasses.
Shut down temples and churches, because their bells are too loud.
Shut down cinema halls, because they show stuff that may make people creative and make them question the status quo.
Shut down hospitals, because they kill a few patients now and then.
Shut down Art Galleries, because I don't nderstand what these guys paint..and the sculpture studios, because they make people in these weird shapes..
I am somewhat exhausted, but you can't shut ME down..
