Beauty and the Beast

 This is about the futility of war, mostly. The thought hits you hard when you see any war begin- India-Pakistan, U.S. -Afghanistan, or Russia-Ukraine. Or the latest, Hamas-Israel. What does it achieve? Is it worth it?

I am not saying that self-defence is necessarily bad. But can it also be limited to defending without going too far? If we end up killing a large number of people and losing a large number too, what exactly is the gain from it?

There is so much productive work we can all be engaged in, and a lifetime is not enough to do it in. If not work, then at least one can enjoy the nature, man-made attractions and all the rest, without becoming destructive. There is so much beauty around to enjoy.

Just a thought for all the brainwashed armies around the world that have to go out and kill or get killed. Yes, they are doing their job. But what a job! To please an egomaniac or a megalomaniac in most cases.

Meaningless Cinema

As an antidote to meaningful and mindful everything, I propose meaningless cinema, with mindless stories, characters, situations, songs, and so on. You get the 'picture' I guess..

The conditions-

There must be no plot, story, that is discernible..the audience must be kept in the dark- this dark is different from the lighting in the auditorium that screens the meaningless film.

The characters must behave strangely- like some zombie moving from one scene to another..Deepak Parasher once had the look required..looked as if he was modelling, when he was supposed to be acting.

Songs if any must have lyrics that make no sense, and music that is out of tune, preferably a worse  remix of a bad remix..

Singers must sound like the combo of that Dhinchak lady plus Himesh Reshamiya..or Taher Shah.

You may argue that we are already there, with Race 3 and its ilk, but films in that class would be a very small minority..methinks we ought to do more!

Bombast

This is not the short form for bomb blast, please note. This refers to generally showing off with words. This is what journalists, lawyers, academicians, Public Relations guys etc. do to 'add value' to themselves, their professions, and whatever they are talking about, such as events. Use of meaningless words in the right places adds to the mystique of things. Examples-

Global
Strategy
Transformation
Metrosexual (no one is quite sure what that means, unlike bi- or trans-)
Revolutionary (new product, technology)
Game-changing (THAT usage IS the game, my friend)
Breaking news (I hear laughter breaking out among readers)
Breakthrough (while you are at it, might as well break a few more)
Fantastic (savings- when you spend a lot, that is)
Out-of-the-world (holiday destination- is it on Mars?)
Plagiarism- won't plain old copying do?
Big Data- anything can be this
Cloud- this is apparently not the pieces of fluff that you encounter in the sky, but here on earth
Soulmate- by definition, the soul is invisible. So how do you know if the soul has found a mate?
Millennium- what exactly is it? A thousand, million, or in between?
Baby-boomers- may a thousand babies bloom
Boundary-spanning
Bounded Rationality (I assume it's the the opposite of Unlimited Stupidity)
X-gen, Y-gen, Z-gen.....take your pick
