Mural Memories From IIM Bangalore

I wrote for the Mural, our real wall magazine, at IIMB during my MBA. Some of that material still remains with me, as I was one of the two editors, along with Dash. A trip down the memory lane.. I was called names, or rather, I called myself names-as you can see in some of these.

Above- an ad named after my neighbour, Sujit.

Above- a joke about Jockey, a classmate..poetic justice?

Just a name I called myself- advising people.

Shanks was a batchmate..this was directed at him..

Above and below..I created this character and Rajan baptised him..we were both Wodehouse fans.
I fashioned the Lord after what I knew from reading Wodehouse, entirely.

Poetry (above) and cartoons by Vijjy aka Vijayaraghavan enlivened our days.

and PJs, of course. We also did a commemorative volume of some of these writings.

KIAMS Memories

We were a bunch of five or six profs., and a few staff members who saw KIAMS develop its first batch of MBA/PGDM in 1998-2000. This was after a couple of years of pure-play training involving Kirloskar group executives, and a few others. It was a challenge, and we did a good job, albeit with small numbers. An ad that said "World Class Mgt. Program from the House of Kirloskars", and interviews done in Delhi and Bangalore for admissions, setting up the syllabus, and running the first batch, were all stimulating-like a startup. I am still in touch with many of that first batch, so we must have done something right. Here are a few colleagues from then.

The Art of the Selfie

I am still learning, thanks to teachers who are much younger- because the selfie is an art that has developed during the generation who are Digital Natives, and not Converted Analogs like me. Here is a collection, mine and those of others-

Second Convocation at NMIMS Bangalore

We had our first virtual one after I joined, in January 2021. Fairly late for the batch of 2020, but then, those were tough times, with no vaccines and no idea where we were headed. This time, September 25th, was much better because we at least were vaccinated, and feeling relatively better. Though we had expected a physical Convocation this time, it was not to be. So my second Convocation as Director happened today, and we made the most of it.

These two young ladies were the MCs at the event- Divya and Sreelekha. They are students of second year MBA, with backgrounds in Fashion and Sociology, respectively.

Kishore Kumar Nite by Jayaram and GD

If you are wondering what retired people do, (and you are not), here is an answer. They indulge in their passions, or hobbies. So it was that Jayaram (a friend from IIMB days) and his friend GD came up with a vocals and Hawaiian Guitar evening of songs dedicated to Kishore Kumar. They picked a few gems, and alternately played and sang them, with some commentary by Hemanth and Ramesh Srinivasan (we call him Hassled, but he wasn't- this time). It was a lovely evening. Pics.

Reunion of IMT Nagpur

Some of my fabulous friends are alumni of IMT Nagpur. It feels like family whenever we meet. So families have to have reunions, right? No occasion is needed, just wanting to meet each other. Here's one such.. Anshita, Abhishek with kids, Anurag and Ishita with kid, and the rest without kids.. Anusha and Aashish, plus Gowri and Sreeram made up the family. Great conversations about everything under the Sun including work, bringing up kids, pets, cars owned and leased, Swipe-cards and train engines, what engineers do, other alums, and Nithyananda, of course. Pics (candid and not)-
