I have a high dose of nostalgia when visiting Nagpur. This time it was a visit to the institute that I really cherish as a workplace. After 2013, I was visiting them for the first time. The roads are now very good, and the drive is a breeze. Met the new director, and my old secretary Archana, in addition to lots of staff and faculty..
With the Director Dr. Rajneesh Chauhan, and external Dr. Mukherjee from MDI, with old colleagues TK Chatterjee, Rajnandan Pattnaik and Subodh Tagare.A blog about life, Hindi music, films, humour, books, people, places, events, travel, and occasionally, marketing management or leadership. Mostly apolitical, because that is a personal matter that each of us should decide on, and because I don't want to lose readers!
Year books
We had this tradition of a Tear Book, with some memories of the institute, along with photos and writeups about each student. I, along with Dash, partner-in-crime and co-editor, wrote/edited the one for our batch at IIM Bangalore. Our MBA batch of 1982-84. I recently found some later years' Year Books at the campus, and took a few pics from them, just for keepsake nostalgia.. here are some. We included nicknames, like some of these do.. The name remains IIMpressions.. iimpressive?
Nostalgia Trip to IIMB
The occasion was a visit by Harish Arora and Ila. He was a classmate at IIMB, circa 1982, and she is his wife. We met at the office of Gopal Mahapatra who was also a classmate and is now a prof. at IIMB. Some pics- among the highlights, we visited a new hostel- R Block, and the new chai/coffee shop that has replaced Uncle's, the old one. Also saw a pic from our Convocation on the wall.
This first one below is from 1982 or 83. Others from 2022.

Placement Brochures and PES
Placement brochures, like Yearbooks, are a storehouse of information, and memories. I recently chanced on this one from PES, Bangalore (now a University under Karnataka State) where I was between 2005 and 2008. Lots of these students are still in touch, on social media. Here are some excerpts from the Placement Brochure of one batch..
Enduring Friendships- Students
I am amazed at times when I count the number of years I have known some students of mine. I would
Students from IIM Indore and IFIM B School, above and below.Rajeev Roy Chowdhary above (with wife Sangeeta), and Anushka Mishra below, both from different batches of KIAMS.
Savitha is from KIAMS Batch 1.
have been 32 when I joined Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management, Hyderabad. I am in touch, virtually, with at least half a dozen students of a very small batch 1. KIAMS at Harihar followed soon after, and I am in touch with many students -Batch 1 onwards, and some I did not even teach there. Some evidence above of meetings with some.
It's great fun, both planned and unplanned meetings. I will add some more about these meetups, particularly for IIM Indore and IMT Nagpur, where I have met dozens of students across India, in just the last 2 years or so.
