Recipe For Making Interesting Humans

I am proposing a recipe of another kind. How do you create an interesting human?

Take a human who is willing to become interesting- this selection is an important part of your success.

Add some good habits. Reading is essential, others can be added as per your choice.

Add a taste for music.. of any kind. And a sport, again of his/her choice.

Expose to different people of all age groups.

Add a high level of curiosity, and a dash of speaking skills. Some listening skills too.

Some social grace for how to behave (kindly?) with others in society.

Activism is optional.

Add a generous dose of SMILES, and a sense of humour.

You are done! Serve to society at large, unless you want to keep him/her to yourself!

Thai Red Curry- Vegetarian

Now that Red Curry Paste is easily available in the supermarkets, I tried making the red curry for myself. The other thing you need is coconut milk- thick and thin. And vegetables, of your choice- I used Red Capsicum, Cabbage, Beans, Carrots and Onion. And a bit of chopped ginger to add zing. You could also add leaves of Lemon or fresh lemongrass if available. I did not add fish sauce, so this is a vegetarian dish, totally.

Stir in the red curry paste in hot oil for a few minutes, then slowly add the thick coconut milk, and vegetables (you can also fry the veggies first, before adding the milk). Let them cook a while, and then add the thin coconut milk and cook further. Total of about 10 minutes for both. You are done! Eat it with plain steamed rice. Very tasty!

My Egg Curry Recipe

I am not a food blogger, but I thought why not try everything once? So here is a simple egg curry recipe.

Boil 3 eggs. Peel and set aside.

In a deep pan (like a kadhai shown here), heat two tablespoons of oil. Add two chopped onions, two green chillies, half-inch chopped  ginger, one teaspoon turmeric powder. Fry for two or three minutes, stirring. Then add ginger garlic paste, one teaspoon coriander powder, half a teaspoon cumin powder, half a teaspoon red chilli powder, and stir fry. If it's sticking to the pan, add a dash of water. Add one chopped tomato. Fry for two or three minutes, add water and boil. Add salt to taste, and chopped green coriander.

Cut the eggs in half, and slip them into the gravy. Cover them with gravy and set aside for a few minutes. Enjoy with steamed rice.

The final product. I like the red colour. You can try some cream at the end if you want it less "hot" but in my view, this tastes better with rice.

Slip the eggs in and cover with gravy.

The gravy, almost done.

The boiled eggs, before they went in.

Making Tea in a Rice Cooker

Whoever said a rice cooker is only for cooking rice? On the lookout for new ways to make tea since my only gas cylinder got exhausted and while I waited for the replacement to arrive, I focussed on 'what I have' rather than 'what I don't have' (this is deep,.... think).

And came up with the bright idea. Make chai in the cooker. So here is the recipe. Put water mixed with a little milk in the electric cooker. Put it on cook. Cover. Wait 10 mins. Take out mixture and pour over tea in a strainer into a shallow bowl so the tea can interact with the hot water/milk mixture. Pour remaining hot water in the drinking cup. After a minute of soaking, pour the red mix from the shallow bowl into the cup. Add sugar if you need it.

You have got yourself a nice cup of tea, and saved some gas-though not electricity. Helps clear some cobwebs (the tea, and in the brain).
