Celebrity Weddings

Disclaimer- No celebrities were hurt during the writing of this blog.

Their wedding and ours (those of lesser mortals) are very similar.

There is one bride, and one groom.. mostly.

There is a ceremony of some kind, usually involving fire.

People attending are too dressed-up for their own good.

The women have elaborate make-up; hence, they look better than the men, on an average.

There are shoots. I mean photographers- a couple, at least. Videographers too.

There is a long line to meet the groom and bride. They actually feel like a celebrity!

But I still prefer Punjabi weddings, for obvious reasons ...

Wedding Photography

I have been one-wedding photographer- a few times. At a friend's request, or sometimes voluntarily to satisfy my own creative instinct. Most of these have been happy outings, mainly due to the festive ambiance on these occasions. But the photography itself is not so easy, particularly indoors. The reasons are many- too many people running around, getting a good angle is difficult at times because of where you can go or not, and expressions are changing quickly -the bride and groom's- depending on what part of the ceremony is on. My own wedding photographs tell me this story too.

But here are a few good ones, I think, from my shooting experience.

Friends, and relatives. The Pujari too.

Fun moments...

Groom is also a musician, part-time, with an HMV style dog.

Matrimonial Ad for Self

Once bitten always shy. There were times when one would have written a matrimonial ad for self with all the wrong characteristics- beautiful, smart, earning a six-figure salary, not to forget decent  background, and so on- and got bitten. But no more.  If one were to put an ad out today, it would read as follows-

Good cook, with an even better attitude- as in willing to cook and feed a (potential) family of four, day in and day out.  Work tirelessly to clean the surroundings, care for inmates and guests, expected or otherwise, asking for nothing in return, except occasional outings or small tokens of gratitude. Must be adept at juggling tasks, giving back or limb massages on demand, smile at me when I return from work. Willing to make tea/coffee  every few hours, at least five times in a day.

Watching serials at home is acceptable, provided there is no attempt to imitate the villainish women appearing in them. Should be willing to attend PTA meetings of (future) children. Appointing maids and supervising their work is an important and necessary qualification. Should not expect husband (me) to conjure up handymen such as plumbers at short notice.

Important: Should not be fond of gold, silk sarees or silk anything expensive, except maybe  chocolates.
